I just found out that my step-grandfather passed away this morning. It wasn't a surprise and he's at peace now after a long year of struggling with his health. It still takes some absorbing, though. I plan on lighting a candle for him on Thursday as a tribute and a way to say thanks to him. I lost this year both of the only grandfathers I've known - my foster grandfather back in August (on my birthday no less) and today my step-grandfather. I've never met my mom's parents and my dad's dad passed away before I was born. My dad's mom passed away when I was 12 and my foster-grandmother passed around 10 years ago. The only grandparent I have left is my step-grandma. Fortunately I still have both of my parents. I'm sad for my step-family, knowing how much grief they are going through right now but I'm happy for him because he's no longer in pain. I don't believe in goodbyes - only "Until Next Time"...
